A Legal Disclaimer
Last updated: September 2026
These Website Terms of Use govern access to and use of the website operated by Legado Consultores Jurídicos, S.C. (“Legado”, “we”, “us” or “our”), including the information, publications, guides, materials and other resources made available through it.
By accessing or using this website, you acknowledge these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with them, you should discontinue use of the website.
1. Nature and Purpose of the Website
This website is operated by Legado Consultores Jurídicos, S.C., a Mexican law firm providing legal services principally in connection with Mexican law.
The website is intended to provide general institutional information regarding Legado, its professionals, capabilities, experience and publications, as well as general information concerning legal and business matters that may be relevant to persons doing business, investing or operating in Mexico.
Nothing contained on this website constitutes an offer or commitment by Legado to provide legal services in any particular matter.
2. General Information; No Legal Advice
All information, publications, guides, alerts, articles, commentary and other materials available through this website are provided solely for general informational purposes.
They do not constitute legal advice, a legal opinion or a recommendation concerning any specific matter, transaction, dispute, investment, structure or course of action.
Legal outcomes depend on the particular facts and circumstances of each matter and on applicable laws, regulations, administrative criteria and judicial interpretations, which may change over time.
Users should obtain specific legal advice before acting or refraining from acting based on any information made available through this website.
3. No Attorney-Client Relationship
Accessing or using this website, reviewing or downloading its materials, submitting information through a contact form, sending an email to Legado or communicating with any member of the Firm does not, by itself, create an attorney-client relationship.
Legado will be considered to have accepted a professional engagement only after completion of its applicable intake, conflict-review and acceptance procedures and formalization of the corresponding engagement terms.
Until that process has been completed, users should not assume that Legado represents them or has agreed to act in connection with any particular matter.
4. Communications and Confidential Information
Users should not submit confidential, privileged, commercially sensitive or otherwise restricted information through general website forms or unsolicited communications unless Legado has previously confirmed that the information may be transmitted through the relevant channel.
Receipt of unsolicited information does not, by itself, establish an attorney-client relationship or impose upon Legado professional obligations applicable to an accepted engagement, except to the extent otherwise required by applicable law.
Legado may be required to conduct conflict-of-interest, identity, compliance and other internal reviews before accepting a matter.
Accordingly, users should initially provide only the information reasonably necessary for Legado to understand the general nature of the requested engagement and conduct the relevant preliminary review.
5. Professional Engagements
Any legal services provided by Legado will be governed by the applicable engagement documentation and by Mexican law.
In the event of any inconsistency between these Website Terms of Use and the terms of a formally accepted professional engagement, the engagement documentation will govern with respect to the relevant legal services.
Nothing contained on this website modifies any existing professional engagement between Legado and a client.
6. Mexican Law and Foreign-Law Matters
Legado advises principally on matters of Mexican law.
Where a matter involves legal issues governed by the laws of another jurisdiction, Legado may coordinate, where appropriate, with lawyers or other professionals duly qualified in the relevant jurisdiction.
Nothing on this website should be construed as a representation that Legado or any of its professionals is authorized to practice law in any jurisdiction in which the relevant professional is not duly authorized to do so.
7. Publications, Guides and Insights
Legado may make available articles, guides, legal updates, briefings, alerts and other publications.
Such materials reflect general information or analysis as of the date indicated and may become outdated as a result of subsequent legal, regulatory, judicial, administrative or factual developments.
Legado is under no obligation to update previously published materials unless it expressly undertakes to do so.
Materials available through the website should not be relied upon as a substitute for legal advice concerning a particular situation.
8. Representative Experience
Descriptions of representative matters are intended solely to illustrate the nature of matters handled by Legado or its professionals.
Such descriptions may be generalized, anonymized or otherwise modified to protect client confidentiality and other legally protected information.
Prior experience or results do not guarantee or imply any particular outcome in a future matter.
9. Personal Data and Privacy
Personal data collected through this website will be processed in accordance with applicable Mexican data protection legislation and Legado’s Privacy Notice.
Legado’s Privacy Notice should identify, among other matters applicable to the relevant processing activities, the identity and address of the responsible party, the categories of personal data processed, the purposes of processing, mechanisms for exercising applicable rights, and any other information required under Mexican law.
Users are encouraged to review the Privacy Notice before submitting personal information through the website.
The current Mexican private-sector data-protection framework requires personal-data processing to be legitimate, controlled and informed and contemplates the use of privacy notices to inform data subjects regarding the purposes of processing.
10. Cookies and Similar Technologies
This website may use cookies, analytics tools or similar technologies necessary for its operation or used to understand website performance and user interaction.
Where such technologies involve the processing of personal data, their use will be subject to applicable Mexican data-protection requirements and to the disclosures contained in Legado’s Privacy Notice and, where applicable, its Cookie Notice.
Non-essential tracking technologies should be configured consistently with the consent and transparency requirements applicable to the technology actually implemented on the website
11. Information Security
Legado implements reasonable administrative, technical and physical measures appropriate to the nature of the personal information and systems under its control.
Nevertheless, no internet transmission or information system can be guaranteed to be entirely secure.
Users are responsible for taking reasonable precautions when communicating electronically and should use the communication channels specifically indicated by Legado for sensitive or confidential information.
This provision is particularly important given that the current Mexican data-protection authority has publicly emphasized cybersecurity risks associated with inadequately controlled website platforms and content-management systems.
12. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise indicated, the content of this website, including its text, publications, graphics, logos, designs, photographs, visual identity, layout and other original materials, is owned by or lawfully used by Legado and may be protected under Mexican and other applicable intellectual property laws.
Users may access and download materials for their own lawful, personal or internal business reference purposes.
Except as permitted by applicable law, no website content may be reproduced, modified, distributed, republished, commercially exploited or incorporated into other materials without the prior authorization of Legado or the relevant rights holder.
The names, logos, trademarks and other distinctive signs displayed on the website may not be used in a manner that suggests authorization, sponsorship, affiliation or endorsement without prior consent.
13. Permitted Use
Users agree to use this website only for lawful purposes.
Users may not:
• Interfere with the operation or security of the website;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or information;
• Introduce malware, harmful code or other disruptive technologies;
• Use automated means to access or extract website content in a manner that materially interferes with the website or infringes applicable rights;
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent an affiliation with Legado; or
• Use the website or its contents for fraudulent, unlawful or misleading purposes.
14. Third-Party Links
The website may contain links to third-party websites or resources for informational or convenience purposes.
Legado does not control such third-party resources and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices or terms of use.
The inclusion of a third-party link does not, by itself, imply endorsement, affiliation or sponsorship.
Users should review the applicable terms and privacy practices of third-party websites separately.
15. Availability and Modification of the Website
Legado may modify, update, suspend or discontinue any portion of the website or its content at any time.
Although Legado seeks to maintain accurate and useful information, it does not warrant that the website will at all times be uninterrupted, current, error-free or suitable for any particular purpose.
16. Limitation of Responsibility
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Legado shall not be responsible for losses arising solely from reliance on general information contained on this website without obtaining legal advice appropriate to the specific circumstances.
Legado shall likewise not be responsible for interruptions, technical failures, third-party systems or events beyond its reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability, right or obligation that may not lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable Mexican law.
17. Electronic Communications
Communications made through the website or by electronic means may constitute electronic communications under applicable Mexican law.
Users acknowledge that ordinary electronic communications may be subject to transmission delays, technical failures, unauthorized interception or other risks inherent to electronic systems.
The use of email or a contact form does not constitute formal service of legal process or delivery of notices in connection with an existing professional engagement unless Legado has expressly agreed otherwise in writing.
18. Changes to These Terms
Legado may revise these Terms of Use from time to time to reflect changes in the website, its operations or applicable law.
The version published on the website at any given time will indicate its latest update date.
Changes will become effective upon publication unless otherwise expressly stated.
19. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms of Use shall be governed by the applicable laws of the United Mexican States.
Subject to any mandatory jurisdiction or procedural rules that may apply, disputes arising exclusively from the use of this website shall be submitted to the competent courts of Mexico City, Mexico.
This jurisdiction provision does not alter any dispute-resolution provision contained in a separate professional engagement entered into between Legado and a client.
